Mom's Immune System

How many of you moms experienced a noticeable change in your immune system after your first baby? I sure have and its frustrating! I am a health conscious person and I take vitamins every day. I do not run to the doctor for a sniffle and taking drugs is a LAST resort. I believe my system is lacking one or maybe more key things that is keeping me from fighting off everything. Hopefully we can pin point it soon. Just curious how many of you mom's experienced the same thing. Baby Jonas hasn't been sick one day of his life! I tripled up on good nutrician while I was pregnant. He took all that and still robbed me of something! :-) I'm forever thankful he is so healthy, especially for being a preemie! Pregnancy can change so many things about mama's body!
Those of you who read this blog and never comment, feel free this time!

I have for sure - less energy and more sniffles! I was doing some research today on thyroid and am wondering if this could be the case for me. Now I'm going to try to find a naturopath (sp?) in our area...and see if we can't diagnose and/or fix that naturally.

Hmmm...I don't remember having anything out of the ordinary in terms of my immune system. I had the sleep deprivation, discomfort and thirstiness that comes with nursing and I caught one really miserable cold when Michael was 2 months old. My mom told me that I should continue to take my prenatal vitamin well after Michael's birth. No one ever told her to do that and she remembers being so tired several months after my birth.
I did get very, very sick a week after Michael was born though. I could barely keep down water - not too fun and somewhat scary while trying to nurse a newborn. Michael packed on the pounds while I lost all of my baby weight in two weeks:). I do not recommend doing it that way.
I think that Jenny has a good suggestion. Approach it from a more natural point of view. I hope that you will find your answers soon. I'll let you know if I think of anything else that I may be forgetting. Take care.

I am going to have Nutrician Response Testing done this Monday. Jenny you should see if someone in your area practices this. Its a program developed my Dr. Ulan in Clearwater, FL. We have a couple natural doctors who practice this. My chiropractor is almost done finishing up his schooling in this.

Sarah -- I can't tell you off hand about right after my first baby, but I can tell you that I have been exhausted a lot of the time and do catch quite a few things that go around. Did I tell you this already? I finally did a hair analysis with a highly recommended nutritionist. That found that my system is almost entirely depleted of vitamins & minerals. It said I was basically in "adrenal burnout syndrome". So now I'm taking a ton of vitamins and am trying to make some lifestyle diet changes, in addition to getting more sleep. Not always an easy thing to do, but necessary. I always took prenatal vitamins, but I guess having 4 babies in 5 years really took its toll---in addition to my frequent late nights, the stress of a busy life with my husband gone a lot, and an okay but not-the-best diet. Don't know what Nutrition Response Testing is, but I am already feeling better with the many vitamins and other changes I'm making. Hope you get it figured! It's not fun when you've got a baby/toddler to keep up with and you are not up to par. I'd venture to say that most moms go through similar issues. I encourage you to keep finding a solution, because I'm realizing that walking around exhausted all the time should NOT be the norm. I'll pray the Lord directs you to what will be best for you. Enough of my epistle! Hope that helps . . . .
