Again and again

Since my last post was pretty recent, I just had to write again and give a little update. Jonas and I ran 3 errands today. The shoe repair shop, Steve and Barry's and Babies R Us.
The sweet lady in the shoe repair shop had never seen Jonas. The first thing she said was " you know I'm partial to little girls." I looked at her with the best facial expression I could, so she wouldn't feel bad, and said "he's a boy." And I laughed. She felt bad and said "he is just too pretty to be a boy and all that hair." She then asked him for a date. :-)
We then headed to Steve and Barry's and had a quiet little vist with a few women who only flirted with Jonas, but never spoke.
Then we go to Babies R Us. I was talking to the employee, who was probably around my age. She kept referring to Jonas as a "she" and she was looking right at him. This happened several times. When it was my turn to talk I said "well, actually, he's a boy..." And I smiled, again hoping she wouldn't feel bad. She also said he was just too pretty.
So, I guess that is it! He is just too pretty, has too much hair for a boy, and captivating big blue eyes. I can't complain with all those features.
By the way, he was dressed in a blue and white shirt with blue pants.
Anyone got some appropriate/cordial comebacks I can give when this happens? I have a feeling it will keep happening until I cut his curls off and I don't plan on doing that for quite sometime. :-)

I just don't see it, Sarah. Jonas LOOKS LIKE A BOY!!! Will he let you put a baseball cap on him? Bring a toy truck for him to hold while he's in checkout. Perhaps you could be having a conversation with Jonas while you are checking out, saying his name a few times or calling him your little man so they can hear you. If they still get it wrong, maybe you could joke around and say that his daddy wouldn't like him to be called a girl even if he is "too pretty" to be a boy.
Lots of boys have blue eyes and little curls. It's not like you are dressing him in pinks and purples!!!
It sounds like you are being kind and gracious to the ladies at the checkout counter. Joking around and laughing is a great way to correct their error without making them feel dopey. This to shall pass:).

I love his curls!!! I would definitely leave them for a while too. I agree with Rachel, I think what you are doing is good.

I don't have any good comebacks, but I think what you're saying is just fine...just smiling them and correcting them about "she" being a "HE"! I don't get it either though!

Thanks girls. I'm really not that raving mad about it at all. Its just funny sometimes and I hate making people feel dumb or stupid when I correct them.

He's such a boy! Maybe if you dressed him in pink, people would do the opposite? haha Callie still gets called a boy when she's decked out in pink from head to toe and she'll be 2 in a month!

Hi Sarah, I don't know if you recognize me or not, but we had a few classes together a long time ago at BJU. I'm also friends with Karmen. I just have to tell what my friend did who had the same problem. She found a bib at Babies R Us that says "I'm not a girl". It was super cute. I don't know if it helped with the problem. I have 2 girls and I had the same problem with them being mistaken as boys, even though they were covered in pink. I guess some people just don't get it...
